~B_RECORDThe Record button is used to start recording. To make
a recording, click on the Record button so it is pressed,
then click on the Play button (the button with the right arrow).
Then compose your performance. When finished, press the Stop
button (the button with the square in it). You can then hear
your recording by pressing the Play button.@
~B_PAUSEPressing the Pause button temporarily stops the music.
You can resume from where you left off if you press the Pause
button a second time.@
~B_STOPThe Stop button stops the music and "rewinds" to the beginning.
If you were recording when you pressed the Stop button, recording is
turned off, Playback mode is enabled, and the next time you press the
Play button you will hear the recording you just made.@
~B_STARTThe Play button will start Boombox playing. If you are
in Remix mode the Play button will start playing the current MIX.
If you are in Jam mode the Play button will start any parts
that are enabled. If you are in Playback mode, the Play button
will start your recording.@
~B_REWINDThe Rewind button will cause the music to play backwards.
Rewind only works when the Play button is pressed.@
~B_FASTFWDThe Fast-Forward button will cause the the music to play
fast. Fast-Forward only works when the Play button is
pressed.@
~B_REMIXClicking here is a shortcut to Remix mode on the Remix
screen.@
~B_BAR4The Volume sliders allow you to change the volume of
part. To move the sliders, click on the slider knob with
the left mouse button and, while holding the button down,
move the mouse up or down. You can also adjust the volume
by using the keyboard keys 'u', 'i', 'o', and 'p' to move
the sliders up, and 'j', 'k',' l', and ';' to move the
sliders down.@
~BMP_OPENBOXOpen - lets you open a .BOX file, which contains the main
song, alternate mixes, solo sounds, and music patterns. Use the file
requester to find the .BOX file you want, then click on the 'OK'
button to load it.@
~BMP_SAVEBOXSave - lets you save your current recording on disk. You
must make a recording or load one or more samples for this menu
item to be active.@
~BMP_ABOUTAbout - opens up the Boombox requester, which displays
the version of Boombox you are running.@
~BMP_QUITQuit - quits Boombox and returns you to Workbench.@
~BMP_HELPYou have entered Help mode. For information on a specific
item, close this requester (by clicking on OK) and then click
on the item you need help with. You can also get help with
menu choices by choosing them.
Once you have all of the information you need, choose
Help from the Project menu to disable Help Mode.@
~RMM_BOOMBOXBoombox - each of the items in this sub-menu is a mix
available in the current .BOX file. Choosing one of them will
make it the current mix, and bring up the Boombox screen.@
~RMM_REMIXRemix - each of the items in this sub-menu is a mix
available in the current .BOX file. Choosing one of them will
make it the current mix, and put you in Remix mode on the
Remix screen.@
~RMM_JAMJam - puts you in Jam mode.@
~RMM_MIXPLAYPlayback - puts you in playback mode. Playback mode
lets you play back a recording. This menu item is only available
if you have made a recording, or there is a recording saved
with the current file.@
~BM_SAMPLEThe Sample menu shows you which rap samples are
currently available. The numbers 1-6 in the menu
correspond to the six rap pads or the Rap trigger keys
(1-6 on the keyboard). You can substitute your own
IFF-8SVX sample by choosing one from the sample menu.
Use the file requester to choose your sample file
and load it.@
